HMU If Youcan Dreamit "Dream"
Dream was not born and raised here, but born at a friend's barn, that we were able to have first hands on until she came home with us. She was handled since birth. She was started under saddle at 3 years old and was ridden on and off throughout the years. She was ridden by youth riders whenever friends were out. She was put on the back burner with only needing more miles up until 2017 where she was given a full 3 more months of training and was started to be used for beginner kids lessons up until Fall of 2021. She did great with the kids! Was calm, gentle, and sensitive. Did anything they asked. The lessons consisted of arena work, both indoor and outdoor. English equitation & Western, working on barrels, ground poles, and trail rides around the farm. At that point Dream was traffic safe and being trail ridden. We had considered selling her Spring of 2022, she was given another 5 full months of training and riding put into her with being listed for sale in mind and we ended up changing our minds as we wanted one more foal out of her and she was such a solid riding mount for our trail riding students we just felt it wasn't time.
Dream has been consistently trail ridden since 2021 by many, many people of all ages, mostly beginner riders. She is naturally a calm and gentle mare, nothing bothers her, and she is confident in herself enough the riders experience doesn't matter. We have comfortably been able to plop anyone on her and go on 2–3-hour trail rides every weekend. If we have someone new out to ride, someone uncomfortable or scared to ride, she is the first one we plop someone on and by the end they are smiling ear to ear because of how comfortable they were the whole time. Since 2021 Dream has also helped me train fresh horses in need of desensitization by ponying them around with desensitization objects flapping all over helping them learn to be calm. Dream is amazing out on the trails. She will take lead, be in the middle, follow. She has been the "solid" horse out on the trail when I'm in need of getting an inexperienced horse that may blow up or be spooky. Dream has seen everything trail riding with us has to offer and she is not spooky. She has never bucked, bolted, reared, kicked, or bit even when just being started under saddle. She has SUPER comfortable gaits, dressage like movements, and is as English as you can get. She still has potential for anything at her age. She would be wonderful for 4H, Dressage, Endurance, Competitive Trail, Pleasure, Trail riding, All around, Lessons.
We're waiting to list her officially for sale until we get her down to Zumbro Bottoms Spring/early Summer of 2024 and she has a refresher coming out of winter. We have decided to sell her as we have deciding to retire her from breeding. She has had 4 wonderful foals for us!
The only cons with Dream being we've had her since she was a foal, is that she had gotten buddy sour after returning to riding after being weaned from her foal (as most mares do) which was easily corrected after having a brief refresher and some alone time. All she would do is nicker and try to turn around here and there but if you corrected it right away and had a consistent riding routine, she was better each time after until it wasn't an issue anymore.
Since she has been used for lessons and beginners:
Please understand that we do not label horses "kid safe" or "bomb proof" even if they have been for us or believe they would be suited for that label elsewhere. We can't guarantee any horse will remain the exact same as they are here. I've just listed what I think she has potential for somewhere else and what she has done and how well she has done for us. Each horse is different in new situations, routines, with new people/horses, and how they're being handled or trained. It is ultimately up to you if she would be a good fit for your needs/wants after seeing her and trying her out.
